Chief Morris began her career in 1995 with the Morehead City Police Department.
She is a graduate from the Law Enforcement Management Program and holds an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice. She holds an Advance Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Criminal Justice and Training and Standards Commission.
She was part of the initial Governor's Highway Safety sponsored Traffic Squad established here and has served the Department in several capacities before being promoted. She was recognized in 2008 on a State level for her work with children in the "After School Program" (ASP
) that she holds here at the Morehead City Police Department. She became a member of the North Carolina Associations of Chiefs of Police in 2015. She was also appointed to serve on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council as the "Chief of Police" representative for Carteret County and on the 911 Communications Advisory Board.
