What is the Youth Advisory Board?
The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) consists of a group of young people in grades 6 through 12 who are interested in volunteering and taking an active role in determining services and programs at the public library. Serving on the YAB can satisfy volunteer/service requirements for school and look great on college applications or job resumes.
Requirements to Serve
- Junior YAB: Must be in grades 6 through 8 (Middle School students)
- Senior YAB: Must be in grades 9 through 12 (High School students)
- Attend monthly meetings the first Thursday of each month at 5 pm.
- Be willing to serve for at least one semester.
- Fall 2023: Sep 7, Oct 5, Nov 2, Dec 7
- Spring 2024: Jan 4, Feb 1, Mar 7, Apr 4
- Summer 2024: May 2, Jun 6, Jul 11, Aug 1
Specific Activities
- Plan library services
- Promote library programs and services at school and in the community
- Make suggestions for the collection
- Assist with library programs for children
- Meet and work with others and have fun at the library
How do I become a member?
Submit YAB Application completed and signed by volunteer and parent/guardian:
- In person at the library (202 South 8th Street, Morehead City, NC 28557) – or –
