Station 1 replaced the former Fire Station 1 located at 801 Evans Street. This station sits about a half mile from the Intercoastal Waterway. Hurricanes and flooding were major issues with the original station design. The structure was designed to withstand winds of 125 miles per hour and special hurricane shutters were designed to protect windows and doors and a reinforced room was also added for extra emergency shelter.
Station 2, built in 2012, is the newest functioning fire station in Morehead City, replacing the old Fire Station 2 at 3308 Arendell Street. The new station houses the department's Administrative Offices, a conference/training Room, and the department's workout room.
