The Town of Morehead City provides several ways for you to pay your utilities bill.

Pay Your Bill with Automatic Bank Draft


This process is popular with our seasonal customers.  It is initiated by the customer and funds are automatically withdrawn from the customer's checking account on the due date. This ensures timely payments without late fees or disconnections for non-payment.  Complete the following steps to set up Automatic Bank Draft

Pay Your Bill Online


The Town of Morehead City is setup to take payments online using the services of a 3rd party provider, Official Payments, who does charge a convenience fee for their services.

Pay Your Bill Over the Phone


The Town of Morehead City is setup to take payments over the phone using the services of a 3rd party provider, Official Payments, who does charge a convenience fee for their services.

  • To make a payment by phone, please call 800-272-9829 and, when asked, use the Jurisdiction Code: 4391

Pay Your Bill with Online Banking

  • This process is initiated by the customer.
  • The customer sets up the Town as a "vendor" through their banks online bill pay service. Payments are sent to us electronically but in some cases certain banks will send us a paper check. The paper check takes longer to be received into our office.
  • Be sure to enter your account number and customer number in this format, account number “-“ and then customer number with no spaces.  For example Account# 555, Customer# 7555555 entered as 555-7555555. Click HERE for an example on where to find your account and customer numbers on your bill.
  • Talk to your banking representative about which process they utilize.

Pay Your Bill by Mail

  • Drop your check or money order in the mail and we normally receive it within 2 to 3 business days.

Pay Your Bill Using One of the Drop Boxes

  • One drop box is located outside of City Hall to the right of the front door at the Bridges Street entrance.  The second a drive-thru box located in the back parking lot. Payments dropped off after 8 am are processed the next business day.

Pay Your Bill in Person with Cash, Check, Cashier's Check or Money Order
